Daily Cupcake #403: Windows
Is it unrealistic to want the mental discipline to make all days feel good?
If it is one of those days when everything mundane seems to go wrong, it is still me who decides to let it get to me and put me in a grumpy mood.
It also feels worse to be grumpy--like why am I doing this to myself when I don't have to?
Is it enough to tell a friend in a laugh it off manner? That way I still recognize the parts that have gone wrong, but I move on instantly.
I think that can be a good approach when the rest of life is in order--like eating, sleeping and exercising well, so I my mental discipline ability is fully charged.
Which leads me to this #Dailycupcake about Windows that follows the Pilates principle of "breathing". Depending on what you need in your day you can take:
Just a nibble- "People are like stained glass windows: They sparkle and shine when the sun’s out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light within.” Elizabeth Kübler-Ross
A few bites– When in your day are you your best self? What are you doing? Who are you with?
Every last bite– Cultivate more of those moments in your life or at least learn to cherish them when they happen.
