Have you ever picked where you want to live?
Have you ever picked where to live; rather than, have it decided for you because of work or some other personal obligation? Having the choice to make is profound.
I've never lived anywhere because I chose to live there until moving to Charleston, SC with my family this year. This spot has everything we need right now, including the potential to be a forever place.
Choosing this place has made me think about it so much differently. I feel the community, and I want to be a part of it. I feel like it is home already, and I'm not just a transplant here for some other purpose. I'm here to build a home and grow my life.
It's made me wonder if I missed out on the other places that I've lived that chose me. If I had the perspective I have now could I have made those places feel like home? Could I have enjoyed more of what they had to offer?
Or was I right to not expend the energy on places that didn't allow me to live a truer expression of myself?
It makes me wonder what else in my life could use a fresh perspective. What about you?
My challenge the rest of this week is to reflect on any perspective that might be holding me back.
The first area I'm starting with is parenting and feelings around what I think I can and cannot do with a toddler.
