Daily Cupcake #24: Succeeding the Right Way
How much joy have you experienced today? With a one year old at home and my day job, all of which I love, taking up a lot of my time I've been focusing on maximizing joy and nixing any problem areas. My days are shaping up to include a few key activities to bring joy, or at least put me in the right frame of mind to experience it:
- Morning Pilates routine
- Charting my high-value work tasks the day before
- Running at least 3.5 miles three times a week
- Planning "the middle" each week, which is what I call all the filler life stuff for the day-to-day like crafts I want to do with my daughter or restaurants to try (I'll post more about that one sometime)
Each of these activities helps me boost my sense of sense of self that otherwise can feel lost being a new mom. It all keeps me feeling calmer and lighthearted.
Which leads me to this #DailyCupcake about Succeeding that follows the Pilates principle of "control". Depending on what you need in your day you can take:
Jut a nibble:“People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.” Dale Carnegie
A few bites: Put a problem into perspective. If you have control, then resolve it. If not, find a way to change your frame of mind to let it go
Every last bite: If part of your daily life is a headache, take stock. What choices do you have? Is the trade off worth it, or is a bigger change in order?
