Daily Cupcake #37: Getting Ahead
My nature is to be active, but I still have to set goals to make sure that I am active. Otherwise, it is too easy to let days slip into weeks and find myself out of sync.
My fitness activities of choice are Pilates and running. I walk, bike, hike, climb, swim and paddle too, but those are activities generally born out of spending time with others.
Pilates and running are for me.
I kept running through just over half of my pregnancy and did modified Pilates throughout. After pregnancy I needed to refine my mindset to accomplish my goals.
I've had to make it a nonnegotiable like brushing my teeth.
I don't allow myself to entertain thoughts of being too tired. It works beautifully for me. I do Pilates every morning and run three times a week. I've found that in addition to shedding the pregnancy weight, it gives me some time for myself, which is critical to keeping perspective when caring for a new life.
Which leads me to today's #DailyCupcake on Getting Ahead follows the Pilates principle of "control". Depending on what you need in your day you can take:
Just a nibble: “The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.” Mark Twain
A few bites: Recall a goal you achieved.
Every last bite: Apply those principles to creating a plan to achieve your next goal.
