Daily Cupcake #21: Doing
We moved to Charleston, SC at the end of December last year. We moved because we liked the small city coastal vibe not because we were getting closer to family or friends.
I have friendships that go back to middle school, graduate school and early career that are my "besties".
We are all far flung though, so even dinners on passes through their towns or weekends those are few and far between.
It has taken effort but I'm planting the seeds for new friendships here. Close to home. I'm hopeful that one or two of them takes root, and I can add to my group of "besties."
It's been about taking the little leaps--following up the casual greetings with more conversation and actually going to cookouts.
I'm starting to see growth. The conversations are becoming more casual and fun. The interaction is adding to my day and building a sense of connection.
The connection fuels me.
Which leads me to this #DailyCupcake about Doing that follows the Pilates principle of "centering". Depending on what you need in your day you can take:
Just a nibble: “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” Goethe
A few bites: Consider what you’ve learned from a recent training, book or documentary and translate it into an action.
Every last bite: Take something you know how to do to the next level—like volunteering your art skills to a school event.
