Daily Cupcake #98: Failure
Failure is a strong word that I sometimes throw around in my head when I'm being hard on myself.
Usually, I apply the term 'Failure' too broadly.
I don't need to kid myself. Sometimes I do miss the mark and fail. Maybe, though, reframing is in order, with a bit of realism.
Instead of saying that I failed at being my idea of a good mom today, I can be honest and say that I failed at being my idea of a good mom in that one moment--that moment at bed time when I didn't stay and chose to go run. Alone.
Tomorrow is a new day to tweak, experiment and practice though.
The applications of the term 'Failure' keep changing too.
Which leads me to this #DailyCupcake about Failure that follows the Pilates principle of "centering". Depending on what you need in your day you can take:
Just a nibble: “Is it better to try and fail or never try?” Unknown
A few bites: Find a new activity to do like rock climbing or throwing pottery.
Every last bite: Schedule some weekend time to go give it a try.
