Pilates and Your Health
You may have heard before that Pilates is a way of life. It's true. Healthy living is about healthy practices--that happen each day. Some days are more difficult than others, but it's about striving to stay on track because you know it's about something bigger. Each time we eat certain things or engage in certain activities we make a choice. Sometimes the choices are difficult like when we are out with a friend who wants to indulge, and we choose to go along with it or to suggest an alternative.
That's where control comes into play. We have to have a reserve of strength to make those good choices and not run out of steam like at the end of a long day with too many stressors when we turn to cake and television. We need coping mechanisms to help us keep our healthy choices as top priorities. Attending Pilates class isn't just an hour or two a week, it's space in your week to give back to your body and keep the focus on healthy living. It's also that coping mechanism in and of itself. Staying motivated to make healthy living choices is about seeing their value as part if your life and your way of being.
