Pilates is about learning how you move and carry yourself through your day. There are all sorts of adjectives used to describe the Pilates experience like long and lean, zipped up, or strong core. But for me it is waking up in the morning and performing the roll-up and feeling where my spine might be a little more tight, and then focusing on specific moves to stretch and strengthen the area. Or running in the afternoon and remembering to watch the rotation in my pelvis, so I don't stress my right side (an old injury keeps me vigilant). I might even make a mental note to amp up the side lying series to strengthen those abductor muscles on my outer thigh. I've learned about my body (its uniqueness) through Pilates.
Pilates keeps me in tune with what is going on in my body and that's crucial to being productive and happy during the rest of my day. The exercises feel powerful doing their double duty to stretch and strengthen. If you feel like you don't have focus Pilates gives you something to concentrate on by centering you and giving you control.
Cupcake Pilates is all Pilates with an extra indulgence to keep you improving in the rest of your life too. Because I recognize that it takes a streamlined life to be able to prioritize daily Pilates practice I created Cupcake Pilates to meet that need.
